The body keeps the meeting
Meetings suppress heart-rate variability more than focused solo work that feels harder. Sustained social vigilance is a physiological load — the body keeps the meeting long after the calendar releases it.
Context switching is worse: a switching-heavy day keeps the stress response elevated between switches and never returns to baseline.
More recovery is the low-leverage answer. The high-leverage one is structural — fewer switches, longer blocks, real breaks.
