Press A. Type. Switch.

Twenty-four atmospheres. Browsing through them to find Fog or Glacier worked when there were eight. It does not work now.

Press A, type a few letters, hit Enter. Five keystrokes from blank slate to a new world. The search filters across both dark and light atmospheres at the same time — type "glacier" while in dark mode and Particle finds the match, then auto-switches appearance mode to land you there. Arrow keys navigate. Live preview is throttled to 90ms so rapid arrow-traversal does not strobe the global atmosphere transition. Escape unwinds in layers: clear the search, drop the highlight, close.

A Discovery Whisper teaches the move at session thirteen. After that, it is yours.

What changed

  • Search field auto-focuses on desktop when the overlay opens
  • Cross-mode filter — typing matches across all 24 atmospheres regardless of current appearance
  • Auto-switch — Enter activates the highlighted atmosphere and flips light↔dark if needed
  • Arrow-key navigation — ←/→ when browsing, ↑/↓ always, with caret-edit passthrough while typing
  • Throttled live preview at 90ms — rapid traversal stays smooth, no transition strobing
  • Layered Esc — clear search → drop highlight → close
  • ARIA semantics — combobox + listbox when searching, radiogroup + radio when browsing
  • Discovery Whisper at session 13 teaches the keystroke once, then quiets
  • Mode chips on cards during cross-mode search — dark/light tag tells you what you will get

A is a doorway now.
